If you talk to people whose retirement is coming up next year, many of them are quite excited and looking forward to eventually getting some time off, after working for almost 45 years of their life. Many see it as a time to wind down and to enjoy the many hobbies that they have been unable to do, up until now. They have been saving for years towards their pension plan and it is their goal to spend most of that money having fun and relaxing. It is definitely a time to look forward to for most, but for others, the opposite applies.

I am, of course, talking about first responders, and for them retirement is not something that they look forward to at all. They have been leading a life of pure adrenaline and excitement, and now all of a sudden, it’s all gone. Many first responders do not find the transition easy, and so they look for assistance to deal with it. The First Responder Retirement Academy was set up solely for this purpose, and many of the staff there, has gone through the same issues that many first responders have. It is their job to provide you with the support that you need, and the following are just some of the services that they offer.

  • Dealing with physical & mental changes – When retirement comes around, you’re going to be at least 65 years of age, and your physical and mental health will not be the same as it was, when you were employed and your whole day was planned out for you. As part of your job as a first responder, you had to pass medicals every year, that gave you the assurances that you were in good physical and mental shape. Now that retirement has come, you may have let yourself go a little, and it can be difficult dealing with these changes. The first responder retirement Academy can help you to deal with these issues.

  • They help you to combat loneliness – Many first responder retirees have lost their partners, and so they have to go through retirement by themselves. This can be an incredibly lonely time, and because you have been used to being around your work colleagues for up to 45 years, suddenly being on your own can be a very stressful situation. It’s at times like this when you need to be able to reach out to others for help, and the First Responder Retirement Academy is there for you.

It can be difficult dealing with these big changes in your life, and so it is refreshing to know that there is a service provider out there that understand what you’re going through, and who can provide you with some much needed assistance.
