Although most weddings are unfriendly to kids, some welcome the family’s youngest members. Unfortunately, the idea of weddings and family-fun don’t go hand-in-hand all the time.

Involving your kids in the wedding might seem like a juggling act, from avoiding behavior outbursts to preparing entertainment. This is why you may want to consider the following ways to ensure things go as planned:

1.      Know about the Timings and Menu

Make it your goal to determine what the menu looks like and the planned timings for your wedding day. Usually, length time, ranging from arrival and sitting to making wedding vows, is long enough to make guests grouchy, leave alone small kids.

So consider packing a bag of snacks as waiting around will be tricky enough for your kids to cope, let alone when they are hungry.

2.      Take Care of the Dressing Part

Ensure that clothes are age-appropriate and comfortable if you are looking to involves kids in the wedding as page boys, ring bearers, junior bridesmaids, or flower girls.

For little girls, dresses from stores like Pink Princess will delight them. Some of your girls will be more comfortable with pants, while others in shorts.

3.      Explain What Will Happen

Before your wedding day, ensure you have an open conversation with your kids about the occasion and what it will involve.

Use the right language, which they may understand. While doing so, ensure you explain that a wedding ceremony is special for grooms and brides, and it’s vital for everyone to behave well.

Tell them that it might seem a little boring, and officiants might say many grown-up words that they don’t understand.

If your kids are of nursery or school age, use this approach as an analogy. So advise them to sit still and remain quiet as the minister talks, just as they do when their tutors are teaching. But afterward, guarantee them that they will run around, play with other kids, and eat delicious food and cake.

4.      Prepare a Child Zone

Kids and adults alike can have fun if every group gives themselves space. This way, adults may mingle, dance, and get drinks after the wedding celebration while kids will avoid whining meltdowns and boredom with crafts and games.

Speak also to the one offering you venue about creating enough space for children to enjoy the event. If you are planning an outdoor event, ensure you set up a small tent to the side of the reception area where kids may blow bubbles, play duck goose, and color without running the guest’s feet.

5.      Consider Reward Approach

Even adults might get bored at the ceremony at times, leave alone your kids who are not familiar with ways of hiding their boredom.

In this regard, you have to show them how to understand before the actual day comes. This can be a perfect time to express your concerns and show gratitude if kids are able to behave on your wedding day. You can do this by giving them sweets and toys.

Closing Remarks!

If you and your significant other have kids, or this is your second time to renew your wedding vows, then it is basically a no-brainer that you want to involve them. But before your wedding day, ensure you ask your children how they will be more comfortable participating in the event.
